A preliminary agreement for the transfer of Diego Costa from Chelsea to Atletico

 Chelsea and Atletico Madrid announced on Thursday they had reached a preliminary agreement to move forward Diego Costa from first to second.

"Atletico Madrid and Chelsea have reached a preliminary agreement for the transfer of Diego Costa," the club said in a statement.
"The agreement will be completed when the contract between our club and the Spanish striker is signed," he said. "The English club allowed Diego Costa to travel to Madrid in the coming days for a medical examination and agreement on the contract with our club."
Chelsea issued a statement saying they had reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid for the Diego Costa transfer.
"The contract will be signed when the club agrees on the terms of the contract with the player and the latter passes the medical examination."
Chelsea coach Antonio Conte has kept Costa away from the starting line-up of the season while the latter insisted on returning to Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer period.
Atletico Madrid can make contracts at the moment but can not take Costa ahead of the January 1 transfer window due to the penalty imposed by the International Football Federation (FIFA).
