The International Monetary Fund expects the US economy to slow until 2018

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Sunday announced a slowdown in US economic growth this year and in 2018, based on the assumption of reduced budget spending, while on the other hand, predicted an improvement in global economic growth.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has recorded an improvement in global economic growth but predicted a slowdown in the US economy this year and in 2018 compared with its previous figures. The IMF said on Sunday in an update to its April figures that growth would be better than expected in the eurozone, The performance of the economies of Spain, Italy and less France and Germany.
The IMF said that the recovery in global growth announced in April is proceeding as expected with growth expected to grow from 3.5 percent in 2017 and 3.6 percent in 2018. But these projections obscure the differences between countries. The United States will post lower-than-expected growth on the assumption of reduced budget expenditures.
Thus, the IMF adjusted its forecast for US growth to 2.1 percent this year and 2018 against 2.3 percent and 2.5 percent previously, leaving the expected growth much lower than the Donald Trump government's target of 3 percent.
In Britain, growth is expected to fall by 0.3% to 1.7% this year, "due to lower economic activity than expected in the first quarter" and expected to remain at 1.5% in 2018. In contrast, The IMF revised its 2017 forecast upwards in a number of eurozone countries including Germany, Spain, France and Italy, where growth in the first quarter of this year exceeded expectations as domestic growth improved.
China increased its forecast to 6.7 percent, up 0.1 percent this year and 6.4 percent, up 0.2 percent in 2018 as economic activity improved in the first quarter with additional flexibility in investment and supply policy. Forecasts for Russia remained at 1.4% for both years and India at 7.2% and 7.7%.
